Welcome!  We invite you to join us for the 2008 Twin Cities Juneteenth Celebration and Festival.  This year’s festival includes special guest appearances by Fox News Anchor Robyne Robinson, members of the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, musical groups Excelsior Choir, James Grear and NuFriends, the Westside Band, XROSS, KJ, and the Bound Band.

The day begins at 7:00 a.m. with a free community breakfast, breast cancer survivors walk, and the Juneteenth Day Parade. (click here for more info).

The festival, sited in the glorious surroundings of Theodore Wirth Park, kicks of at 11:00 a.m. and features old favorites such as the Obsidian Arts Village, USTA Tennis Clinics, Wilderness Inquiry Canoe Riders, the Juneteenth Business and Nonprofit Marketplace, the Wellness Pavilion, two food courts and two entertainment stages.

 

Successful and popular attractions such as the African Map Room and the African American History Pavilion return for a second year. This year we introduce our newest attraction “the Old School Family Reunion area” a place filled with a wide variety of table games, old school DJs with tunes, and a drumming presentation.  (more information click here)

In the evening we shift gears and head to the Target Center for Juneteenth Night With the Minnesota Lynx Women’s Basketball Team. Shuttle buses leave the festival at 6:00 p.m.
